Gregory Hawkins, known professionally as SirGreggo, released his debut single, "The Swallows," in the fall of 2016, exciting his already sizable fan base in the DMV area. As an R&B vocalist, producer, and songwriter, SirGreggo has distinguished himself with great versatility and insight since the 1980s. His unique style and smooth sounds have made him a local favorite.
Growing up in a talented musical family, SirGreggo was exposed to a rich blend of musical influences from an early age. His experiences in church, where he was deeply inspired by the rhythms of gospel music and the power of the church choir, had a profound impact on his artistry. The sounds of the organ he heard every Sunday helped shape his musical foundation and sparked his passion for creating music that conveys deep emotion and spiritual resonance.
Realizing his calling, SirGreggo began showcasing his talent in venues across the region, playing numerous gigs, and steadily building a following. His unique blend of neo-soul, jazz, pop, and R&B brought a fresh sound to the traditional DC music scene, further boosting his popularity. Among his career highlights are performances at the Apollo in New York City and opening for Harold Melvin's Bluenotes in 2018.
In 2023, SirGreggo held a residency at Alora restaurant in Baltimore, MD. This year, VoyageBaltimore recognized him as one of the city’s hidden gems in their October 2024 issue. In addition to managing his own band, SirGreggo wrote and produced for several local artists. His live performance credits also include playing at Philadelphia's 2nd Street Festival in 2018.
With expertise in vocals, keyboard, and bass guitar, SirGreggo continues to refine his craft. His music is a blend of soulful melodies and rhythmic undercurrents, rooted in his experiences growing up in church and his deep connection to the human spirit.
